An early version of the KP series bible (for those who do not know, this is basically a document to sum up a series for the various writers to refer to and know where they are not to contradict) was released recently, giving us an insight at an early version of the show. This was dated for 2000, so most of the data is no longer valid since it includes things like Kim's mother originally being a US Senator, but it's still a fascinating read just to see how things changed before the final release. It's amazing this was even preserved given that usually old versions are destroyed when they update it.

"A Nuclear Arsenal in a breakaway Soviet republic goes missing"
... yeah I can see why that never ended up in an episode. I mean, trying to drown Wisconsin in Magma is one thing, it's fantastical enough not to be too much of a thing, but instant sunshine in a can? Yeah, probably a bit too much, especially given Kim's habit of blowing lairs up might set it off
I think that quote should be used in a fic somewhere when Kim was offered a covergirl position: "Gee, thanks. But why be a supermodel when I can be a super role model?" Definitely makes Kim dolling up to catch Camille in "Trading Faces" more amusing in hindsight though.
So, confirms Kim was 15 at series start. Heh. Welp, time to stop thinking she was 14 then
So Ron was originally sixteen? Huh. And getting held back... yeah I got held back in pre-school, so that doesn't break my SOD at all like it might for some. Also rather amusing how Ron's seems to be a bit more about how he's not a romance option for Kim while Kim's only mention of romance is the standard issue high school stuff in her bio.
So, Drakken's original name was "Ubel" and ran a "Devooitx" corporation? No wonder why Drakken's best schemes were corporate! Though I will say that you can see how Drakken went from 'very scary and lethal' to 'more comedic' in the show - IIRC that was a Disney ruling? (Though I've never seen a quoted source for it, sadly...)
Huh, Steel Toe was originally a villain? Interesting...
... Shego with a James Bond car. You know that actually makes a terrifying amount of sense. Almost wish they dusted that off after Kim got the Sloth; that would've been a great chase scene or two (take Middleton Mayhem to the next level!)
Killer Bebe's originally as Killer B's and a genetics experiment? Wonder why they switched to robots.
Wow, that slang... yeesh that's terrible. Glad we only saw one or two kept. TVTropes wasn't kidding when they said it was clear the writers hadn't seen modern teen slang
Huh, Zita was originally 'seems scary but is really nice'? Wonder if Kim/Zita would've been the original Kigo had they gone with that path (mind it would've had far fewer hurdles without things like 'tried to kill each other'...)
Bonnie's mother on the school board would explain a lot though.
Huh, Mankey being self-absorbed seems to be something that got left on the cutting room floor. And looks like "Rick" (Brick) hitting on Kim was meant to be a more regular thing. Why do I suspect that at some point that would've led to him learning just why henchmen keep losing to Kim?
Random Ron stuff. Not much to say, but yeah I definitely see where they got Season 4 Ron from. Well, they did say Season 4 was where they tried crap that they had discarded from earlier seasons...
"Realistically, it's quite likely that nobody has a naked mole rat for a pet". As too many poor kids found out Mind, 'so anti-cute he's cute' actually fits what they managed to pull off with him. Helped by not animating all the grisly details, mind...
Has Wade's last name ever been implied by others before? But yeah, KP wiki is gonna have a crapton of people trying to made it 'Wade Load' soon... should probably ask whiterabbit to make a blog post or something about the series bible and make it clear that unless it's in trivia (IE, in pre-production notes Wade was Wade Load), it shouldn't go onto the pages? Or maybe just one page on the series bible to handle it all.
"Kenneth Du" - proto Will Du by the looks of it. And it looks like he actually would've had all the implications of poor Will Du being outdone by Kim in missions. Amusingly, I had an idea for a Lorwardian red shirt "Ken Dai" ('Can Die')... but then again that'd probably be a bit on the nose
Yeah, glad they dropped the idea of a love triangle and left it fairly limited with Ron just not liking Josh Mankey than actually competing. As Legend of Korra showed us, love triangles are stupidly hard to get right.
Heh, so they originally intended to have lethal weapons, and just come up with ways for Ken to get disarmed? Nice little touch, though I think Stun Watches were a better idea; maybe throw in some comment that Global Justice is already facing enough difficulty operating across borders and able to ignore sovereignty to do so, so them running around with lethal hardware blowing up bad guys like it's XCOM doesn't cut it (Things aren't an alien invasion going on so a few hundred thousand to a few million in collateral is actually a problem)
"So what if the resulting concussion grenade has a banana crème filling?" ... you know that is begging to be used in a fanfic. And actually amusingly really fits with how I tend to kit Kim up (as did the tie-in games; Kimmunicator had Kim equip goo, flashbang, and EMP ones, Team Possible had Kim employ sonic mines, Ron got flashbangs in Global Gemini...)
Huh, so Kim's mother was originally named Kim as well? Guess they decided to roll with something else. You know, I bet Slyrr's gonna love the fact that Kim's mom was originally going to be a US Senator. Mrs. Probable, Grimm's mother, is one. Of course, it looks like Kim's mother was actually going to be a decent human being instead of a walking example of corruption masquerading as for the greater good... though I can see why it was dropped; the series isn't a political thriller and Kim's mom being a US senator would probably bring too much politics into the series.
"An exponential sociopath streak"... considering what the Tweebs do in the series, I wonder if they got toned down?
So reading it over, it's looking like they originally intended to do more of the political thriller side of the James Bond, but as time went on it became much more comic book superheroes by the time the show premiered. Definitely a lot of interesting things to use, even if many are non-canon now.
