I was suffering from a really bad bought of depression my junior year of college. I realized that no matter how successful I was, the people that bullied me my entire life pre-college wouldn't care and they'd always see me as a loser. I'd been aiming high so I could make them jealous. It felt like everything was for nothing. One day I just left a channel going, I think it was the Disney Channel, because I didn't care.
That was when I found it. They were having a massive marathon and I watched a good chunk of it. I skipped a couple of meals and classes to watch it. I especially felt for Drakken, whose obsession with proving himself and making people stop laughing at him struck a chord with me. It made me want to try again, if just so I would know that I did good compared to the rest of the people from my youth.
Once I finished watching the marathon, there were a few points that I disagreed with in-show, that I felt could've been done better. I wondered about fanfics and figured I'd read a few to see if any 'fixed' the issues that I saw. I was left rather unsatisfied. So I pondered writing. Talked in the ff.net forum a little. Eventually got the courage to start writing.
And that's pretty much it.

Wow..... So that's when you met other writers?

I met other writers between reading fics and beginning to write. cpneb really encouraged me to write some stuff out. Those fics are still unfinished (save for the one with the potato). That's fine, though. Someday I'll finish them.

I guess you're busy with a job and all?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It's busy work, with some pretty harsh time limits, but sometimes I just burn myself out on something. I was burned out of writing for 2-3 months, and now I've burned myself out on Dungeon Fighter Online. I can't seem to keep myself from going whole-hog on stuff and then just... Stopping.

I too suffered moments like those. But what would be the funniest thing about Drakken?

The funniest thing?
I think it's his cloud cuckoolander moments. One of my favorites was from the episode when Kim loses her memory. Drakken had written down his 'foolproof' world-conquering plot half-asleep, then looked at it when he woke up...
"Perk yoink sputter...?"
Such an innocent, frustrated reaction. Those're the time when he isn't obsessed about his problems and he just focuses on the here and now. Always funnier not to dwell on bad things.

He has a lot of mysteries to him, and he's a nifty character all around. My favorite from the show too.

So, what did you think of So the Drama?

I really enjoyed it. The pacing was a bit off to me and that made it hard to really get too into. I do think that the K/R in the movie was well-done. It's season 4 that REALLY makes me cringe about their relationship. And it's SO much better than 'A Sitch in Time'. Ugh. I HATE 'A Sitch in Time'...
The most hilarious part about 'So the Drama' is that I convinced my ~70 year old dad to watch it with me... When Eric said, "It is my mission to take you to prom.", my dad was just like "Oh, I get it now!" Literally explained Drakken's entire plot after that sentence. He had me pause it just so he could see if he got it right, and he did! Every little detail!

Drakkim favorite ship confirmed? Why?

Yes, I do like Drakken/Kim. Favorite ship, no regrets.
As to why? Well, it started out more as a challenge. When I first joined the fandom, the K/R vs Kigo was still going pretty strong. Rongo had some say too, just not much. And there were a handful of Rokken fics (nearly all of which vanished during the last purge ;_;) that were really good reads. But Drakkim? That poor ship had nothing! So I saw the lack of attention and the relative challenge of even GETTING them together as worthy of my attention.
After a while, I really did genuinely enjoy writing them. Figuring out ways to put them together got me to thinking on how to make it so they weren't just together, but how they would be able to spend the rest of their lives together. Little bits here and there (with some personal fanon added) really made it seem possible and like they would be really good together and for each other.
If you're curious, I could start posting a Drakkim series that kgs-wy and I wrote up on here. That's probably the best Drakkim relationship set-up and stories that I've managed to get out that wasn't just a one-shot. Hafta get his permission, but I'd post more than what we have on ff.net since we aren't really looking for critique on here. Some of what we're sitting on is a bit rough.
